Content

The content on pool is mostly crowd sourced and user generated

Pool users enrich data by tagging & commenting on their own works as well as reviewing others.

The Pool team hopes for learning & innovation to be the main outcome, for both their audience & for the ABC themselves. Both parties learn and thus benefit from each other. This relationship between the broadcaster and the creative content maker plays an important part in the growth of Pool.

The use of language is important in Pool:

The developers of Pool stress that they do not want to label things as ‘content’, but as ‘contributions’, not ‘users’ but ‘contributors’.

The ‘Submit’ button was re-labelled

The Community Editor/ Super User role:

gives one the authority to feature other people’s works and  display them on the homepage of the Pool site’s

Features’ page, which shows highlights and recommendations of recent projects and contributions, handpicked by the community editors and Pool team

– This gives users of public media the opportunity to be involved in the editorial side of things

– The community editors also help to generate content and build a sense of MOTIVATION within the Pool community.
