GAMES

This section of the report focusses primarily on Valve Software, an American game development company who have been extremely successful working with user-generated content, the best example of which is Counter-Strike, a game first released for free by two people before being purchased by Valve (and the team behind the mod hired) and placed on the market.

We also examine the modification toolsets that Valve provides for aspiring modders/game designers, before attempting to draw parrallels and links between the approach of Valve (and the gaming industry) and that of other industries, focussing mainly on ABC’s Pool initative.
